After defeating Foley 3-0 to kick off the week, Monday, Sept. 27, the Irish volleyball team went on to claim a parent’s night win over Holdingford on Thursday, Sept. 30.
Maple Lake defeated the Huskers 3-0 with game scores of 25-16, 25-14 and 26-24.
Ella Kiebel was 15 for 15 serving on the night with three aces, four kills, 22 assists, two digs and one block. Teammate Bryn Elsenpeter served 11 for 11 with three aces, five assists and 10 digs while Alex Kiebel went 15 for 17 serving with four aces, six kills and five digs. Also playing well for the Irish was Kinlee Knutson who contributed two kills, one dig and one block; Abby Stoesz who had one dig and one block; Kylie Edmonson who was 4 for 5 serving with 17 kills, four digs and one block; Alison Zander who was 8 for 10 serving with two aces, three assists and seven digs; Gwen Geyen who was 14 for 14 serving with two aces, six kills, two digs and two blocks and Abby Paumen who had one dig for the night.
Teamwise, the Irish served 93 percent with 14 aces and 33 digs.
Maple Lake is now 13-5 overall with a 4-0 conference record.
Maple Lake will play one game at home during this Homecoming week and one on the road. On Tuesday, Oct. 5, the Irish will host Litchfield at 7 p.m. and on Thursday, Oct. 7 they will go to Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa for a 7:15 p.m. game.
