Maple Lake fans packed the stands at Rush City, Tuesday, Oct. 26, for what would be the Irish football team’s final game of the season. The 1-7 Maple Lake team was there to take on the 7-1 Rush City Tigers in Round 1 of the Section 4AA playoff tournament.

Nathan Paumen got the Irish off to a great start with a 1-yard touchdown to be the first to light up the scoreboard. Kicker Matteo Mangili provided the extra-point. Even though the Maple Lake team ultimately fell 27-64, Head Coach Mike Rowe said it was a very entertaining game and the Irish players did a lot of great things on both sides of the ball. In the end, they just couldn’t generate enough big plays on offense and defense, he said.
