Meet Santa and his reindeer at Christmas in Maple Lake

Christmas in Maple Lake will take place downtown this year with Santa Claus arriving by fire truck to take up his spot under the lit Christmas Tree on the empty lot for pictures.

By Brenda Erdahl:

Meet Santa Claus and his reindeer on Saturday, Dec. 11 from 10 a.m. until noon at Christmas in Maple Lake in downtown Maple Lake. This annual event will look a bit different from years past, and organizers are hoping it will be even more fun for kids and adults alike.

Moved from the elementary school to downtown, the center point of the event will be the empty lot on Division Street where Santa Claus will arrive by fire truck to take up his spot under the lit Christmas Tree for pictures. There will also be an authentic sleigh provided by Bluestem Reindeer Ranch. There will not be a professional photographer this year, organizer Cathy Elfstrand said. Instead, parents are invited to take their own pictures and there will be volunteers available if the entire family wants to be in it.

On the northern end of the empty lot, near Star Street, Bluestem Reindeer Ranch of Maple Lake will be bringing a few special friends, Santa’s reindeer! This is not a petting zoo, but children will be able to see up close the muscle behind Santa’s Christmas Eve deliveries.
