The Butchery celebrates two-year mark

By Brenda Erdahl

In May of 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Doug Lindenfelser purchased A-Meat Shoppe from Leroy Draeger. Two years later The Butchery of Maple Lake has won the loyalty of the community and is growing.

Next week, The Butchery will celebrate the milestone with four days of fun, starting Monday, Jun 27 with product deals and culminating Thursday June 30 with music, drawings, food and special appearances by Minnesota Vikings Hall of Famers Chuck Foreman, John Randle and Paul Krause.

From 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday, BOB F.M. will broadcast live from The Butchery parking lot where vendors will be offering samples of cheese curds and pickle dip and the creator of Sovereign Smokes Rub and BBQ Sauce will be grilling up something special.

In honor of his two-year anniversary, Lindenfelser will be selling fresh-off-the-grill pork chops and brats for $2. For dessert, try a scoop of Bridgeman’s Ice Cream, also $2 in honor of the anniversary.

Lindenfelser said two years is a good landmark to celebrate, but if all goes well next week, he may bring the event – which he’s calling Grillbilly Days – back every year.

Doug Lindenfelser went out on a limb when he bought A-Meat Shoppe during the height of the pandemic, but now he’s thriving and celebrating his two-year anniversary Monday, June 27 through Thursday, June 30 with Grillbilly Days.
