The Maple Lake Royalty Program is aiming to help parents with their back-to-school shopping this fall by holding a School Supply Drive on Wednesday, Aug. 31.
From 5 until 8 p.m., generous souls are asked to drop donations of notebooks, pens, pencils, Kleenex, crayons, etc. off at Maple Lake Public Schools to help fill gaps for students whose parents may be struggling financially.
Maple Lake Schools post supply lists for grades K-12th on their website that parents use to equip their students for the start of the school year. The lists mostly consist of items like crayons, glue, markers, colored pencils, binders, folders, notebooks, etc. Although not incredibly costly in and of themselves, for families with multiple students, it adds up. Then once students reach the 7-12th grades, more expensive items like scientific calculators are required.
“We really want to help out those in the community who might not be able to afford school supplies,” said Joy Navarro, the Royalty Program’s operations director.
