Special Olympics team celebrates

On Tuesday, Nov. 15, the Annandale-Maple Lake Special Olympics team headed to Tom ’N Gary’s Bowling Center for their annual celebration, with pizza, fun and awards. The team started practicing in late August and practiced weekly.

Special Olympics Minnesota formed a team in the Annandale-Maple Area in 2003, and since that time the team has grown to over 25 athletes with intellectual disabilities. Athletes come from a wide variety of ages and abilities.

The team competes in area and state competitions currently participating in bowling, basketball, track and field, and bocce ball. The gym activities area usually in Maple Lake and bowling at Tom ’N Gary’s Bowling Center in Annandale.
