Letter To The Editor

With Valentine’s Day approaching, now is a great opportunity to show our children how much we love them by making sure they are in the correct child safety seat. Road injuries are the leading causes of preventable deaths and injuries to children in the United States. As a child passenger safety technician, I see misuse made by caregivers when it comes to properly securing their children: kids in the wrong child safety seat, child safety seats not fastened tight enough, and of course, children under the age of 8 and under 4-feet 9-inches riding in just a seat belt rather than a child safety seat or booster seat.It is important that we take the time to brush up on which child safety seat is the best fit for the child, best fit for the vehicle and to understand the importance of using it correctly on every ride. Parents and caregivers are the most important role models to their children. Always demonstrate the importance of seat belts by buckling up, limiting distractions, driving the speed limit, and not driving impaired — and make sure your children are buckled up right, too. If you need assistance with your car seat, please call 763-335-0280.

Sincerely,

Kai Sin
