The Wright County Parks & Recreation Department has announced its fall program schedule, including one of the most popular family events of the year – the Bertram Boo-Tacular. There is also plenty of opportunities for fun in the outdoors at Ney Park near Maple Lake. Here is the full schedule:
Saturday, Sept. 30 – Fungus Among Us. Can you tell the difference between a lichen and a fungus or want to be able to distinguish different times of mushrooms? This introductory class is led by Park Commissioner Martyn Debbin from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Bertram Chain of Lakes Regional Park. The program will teach about character identification and the biology and ecology of lichens and fungi in Central Minnesota. The program is designed for participants ages 14 and up. Cost: $5.
Wednesday, Oct. 11 – Little Naturalist (Pumpkins). Conducted from 10:30-11:30 a.m., the program is designed for children ages 1-5 and accompanied by an adult. Held at Robert Ney Nature Center, the program will include story time followed by nature play and crafts. Cost: $5 per child.
Thursday, Oct. 12 – Nature & Learn. What do bats, insects, rocks and salamanders have in common? They all live in caves. This class will teach about cave ecosystems and the critical role each cave critter has. The program will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Robert Ney Nature Center. Snacks will be provided. Cost: $8.
Saturday, Oct. 28 – Bertram Boo-Tacular. Trick-or-treat your way through the Bertram campground and enjoy a variety of fall-inspired activities including a take-your-own photo booth and hayrides for the entire family. The Boo-Tacular will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Cost: Free.
Wednesday, Nov. 8 – Little Naturalist (Turkeys). Conducted from 10:30-11:30 a.m., the program is designed for children ages 1-5 and accompanied by an adult. Held at Robert Ney Nature Center, the program will include story time followed by nature play and crafts. Cost: $5 per child.
The Little Naturalist (Pumpkins) program will take place at Ney Park on Wednesday, Oct. 11 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The program is geared toward children ages 1-5.
