The new Minnesota Military Museum (see story on page 10), which will be located near Little Falls on Highway 10 near the Camp Ripley complex leading to the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Morrison County, Minnesota had it’s ground breaking ceremony Sunday with speeches by dignitaries and some veterans. It is going to be located on 32 acres donated by a family and it’s scheduled to be completed by Memorial Day, 2026. It’s going to contain several class-rooms as well as artifacts and memorabilia from wars and the veterans who fought in them. Maple Lake’s Alan Muller is donating his collected of letters he has accumulated over the years he has been in contact with soldiers who have received the Congressional Medal of Honor, the highest medal given to servicemen. He still visits with those veterans still alive. Considering Muller has been an avid World War II buff most of his adult life persons visiting the museum can expect to see a lot of photos and items of interest from that time period.
Muller taught history in the Cokato-Dassel High School and at St. Francis in Buffalo.

We’re scheduled for warm weather this week, up to the 80’s, and ran over the weekend with no frost predicted. The Maple trees are beginning to show off their autumn colors and those in Maple Lake are falling right in line. They probably won’t last too long because it has been so dry, so enjoy the colors while you can. We’ll all be raking up the leaves soon.
