Sunday, Sept. 24 will mark the 70th year of the St. Timothy Annual Fall Festival.
Since 1952 parishioners have put on this popular event that attracts crowds of community and non-community members eager to take part in the many activities and register for a chance at the $1,500 grand prize.
There is always a huge turnout for this event and not just from Maple Lake, said festival co-chair Patty Pawelk. Some people come just for the cake walk where they can win a homemade cake, others come just for the Bingo. Then there are those who come in the morning and stay all day long. “It’s a community event and everyone is welcome to come and celebrate and have fun,” she said.
The event kicks off with a pre-festival pizza party, Saturday, Sept. 23 after the 4:30 p.m. mass. Bernatellos has donated pizzas that will be cooked and served along with beer and pop at the Knights of Columbus beer garden, Pawelk said. The Pizza party will take place on the Catholic school grounds from 5:30 to 8 p.m. The fun resumes Sunday at 9 a.m. on the Catholic school grounds with bingo, pull tabs, meat raffles, a cake walk and bottle blast starting at 10 a.m. There will also be kids’ games, clowns, and face painting.
At 11 a.m. Harney Heeralall, owner of the V by HH will serve up a variety of pastas, meats, and sauces in the Catholic school cafeteria and guests can mix and match as they like at the all-new pasta bar. There will also be vegetarian options plus a selection of homemade cheesecakes for dessert, Pawelk said
