Letters to the editor – Sept. 13, 2023

With the Democrats in charge and Walz at the helm we have seen an increase in crime especially repeat offenders. Police officers are still doing the paperwork as the criminal walks past and out the door. Have any of the BLM protesters spent any time in jail ? It was mostly peaceful, right? The looting of businesses and stores, not to worry they are covered by insurance. All under the watchful eye of the Governor . He can find enough money to give the failing education system a 38% increase but can’t find money for more cops and better training if you can find any candidates that want the job. The parents want cops in the school to help protect the students. So our politicians pass a bill which will put cops in jeopardy if they use too little force or too much. So many schools are losing officers until the bill is clarified. They want a special session to make the needed changes. but Walz doesn’t want to. When it comes to kids he doesn’t care. Why else would he be happy to have abortion right up to birth. Why would he take parental rights away when it comes to trans gender mutilation? Boys competing against girls in sports.

And then sharing the locker room. 5 years ago the boy would have been arrested as a pedophile. Where are you liberal women who fought so hard for Title nine?  The kids aren’t his only target. They are now contemplating a bill to make assisted suicide Legal. On the bright side he has appointed a 13 member commission to come up with a new flag. Seems our current flag is not unifying enough. It depicts an native American riding west on his horse while a farmer is plowing his field. Just a sign of the times. 6 Lady slippers and 3 pine trees represent our state flower and state tree. Three dates. 1858 – Statehood and State seal created.  1893- Official  flag  1819 establishment of Fort Snelling. How much will that cost the taxpayer? Taking into account the way the state has taken on other upgrades such as the up date of the DMV, this should only take 4 years to complete. If the Native Americans don’t like it they can make their own. I do believe they are a sovereign nation.

Town Baseball is so unique . It’s hard not to feel that the biggest reason is that great interaction between the fans and the players that is created. As a fan, you’re there because of your team, the players, your love of the sport, and your town, at the same time displaying a profound allegiance and civic pride. And the players know so. They sense it and feel it, as it shows greatly in their effort and hustle, which heavily displays their love, passion, and respect for the National Pastime they’re taking part in, Baseball. The fans’ enthusiastic cheers that pierce the air let them know that you’re behind them all the way, and the players respond accordingly, playing their hearts out for that town name on their uniform.

The Maple Lake Lakers and their faithful followers  are a shining example of this wonderful aura that is town baseball. May it last forever.

Once again, congratulations to the Maple Lake Lakers for their outstanding effort in winning the Class C title in the just-completed 100th Minnesota Baseball Association State Tournament.
