Wright County Area Blue Star Mothers (BSM) is in the midst of its annual Holiday Project. About 50 community members and Blue Star Mothers from the very young to grandparents were in attendance on Sunday, Oct. 15 to decorate more than 300 Christmas stockings that will be sent to service members who are deployed or unable to be with family and loved ones this holiday season.
On Saturday, Nov. 4 the BSM will hold its bi-annual craft fair to support the program. Expect more than 20 crafters and vendors from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Buffalo American Legion. The BSM chapter will also have its sales table, a “free will donation,” home baked goods table and a special table of donations that you can have a chance at winning for only $1 per ticket. There will also be a quilt raffle, Jen Pecarina, President BSM MN 13 said.
All proceeds from the craft fair are used for the BSM’s Holiday Project, which includes purchasing the stockings and decorating supplies, shipping, additional items for stuffing the stockings and general operating expenses to complete the mission of service to military, veterans, and Gold Star families.
BSM now needs help filling the stockings. Donating to this cause has never been easier. Just visit BSM’s Amazon wish list using the following link and your purchases will be shipped directly to the Wright County Area Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc.

“We appreciate your support in helping us to bring a little bit of home to the deployed (or unable to be with their family and loved ones) service members over this coming holiday season,” Pecarina said.
If you have a loved one serving away from home or know of someone serving away from home during this holiday season please send their address to president.mn13@bluestarmothers.us so they may be included in BSM’s care packages. When sending a name and address please include your connection to the service member and let them know that they will be receiving a package from the Wright County Area Blue Star Mothers, so they don’t disregard the package.
If you are a mother of a service member currently serving in any branch, guard, or reserve or of a veteran, the BSM is here to support you. Please contact the BSM chapter and provide your information at president.mn13@bluestarmothers.us BSM’s regular meeting is the second Monday of the month at the Buffalo American Legion beginning at 6:30 p.m. Social hour begins at 5 p.m. Buy dinner on your own or just come early to chat. “We would love to meet you,” Pecarina said. The chapter’s next regular meeting is Monday, Nov. 13.
“The creativity that flowed from the hands to the felt canvas was amazing,” said Jen Pecarina, President BSM MN 13 about the stockings decorated for area service members.
