Maple Lake Wine and Spirits remained closed all morning, Monday, Oct. 2, after a minivan crashed into the front of the building the night before causing exterior and interior damage.

According to the Wright County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened just before 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 1 when Dibaggio Germain, 22, crashed a minivan into the north exterior wall of the city owned liquor store just off Highway 55 East in Maple Lake then fled the scene. According to liquor store manager Ang Berthiaume, a customer who happened to see the accident followed Germain to a residence south of Maple Lake where he was eventually arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and leaving the scene of a property damage crash.
