The Irish volleyball team edged a scrappy Kimball, Tuesday, Oct. 17 at home.
It took five games to determine the winner of the match, but Maple Lake came out on top 3-2. Game scores were: 20-26, 25-20, 25-19, 28-30 and 15-8.
The Irish stacked the stats columns before the night was done. Avery Lee went 13 for 15 serving against the Cubs with 10 kills, 26 assists, 17 digs and one block; Alex Kiebel was nine for 14 serving with 26 kills, 13 assists, 12 digs and two blocks; Sydney Breimon was 17 for 20 serving with two aces, four kills, 14 digs and three blocks; Grace Ronnenberg was zero for one serving with one kill and two digs; Danica Hageman was 15 for 15 serving with two aces, four kills, six digs and two blocks; Ava Knutson was 19 for 23 serving with five digs; Addison Kramer had three kills; Abby Linder had three kills, one assist, four digs and one block; Maddy Lind was three for three serving; Eliana Fuller was 16 for 16 serving with four assists and 32 digs.
The Irish served 85 percent as a team with four aces and 92 digs.
Maple Lake is now 15-12 overall and 3-3 in the Central Minnesota Conference. The Section 5AA Tournament gets underway on Wednesday, Oct. 25 at the home of the high seed.
