The Irish football team had a rough night against the 3-1 Kimball Cubs on the Cubs home field, Friday Sept. 29.
The Cubs scored three touchdowns in the first quarter on their way to a 46-0 win over the Maple Lake team.
The Irish will have their work cut out for them again this week when they face the 5-0 Eden Valley-Watkins at Irish Stadium on Friday, Oct. 6. The Eagles return many players from their state semifinal team and are the favorite to win the district.
“Maple Lake will put a good plan in place to challenge the Eagles and do everything we can to get a home victory for our seniors,” Maple Lake Head Coach Mike Rowe said.
Friday night will be the final home game for nine Irish seniors: Luke Goelz, Logan Salmela, Nathan Zander, Joey Gendreau, Alan Haglin, Dalton Kerkow, Damieyn Floding, Matthew Dick and Aiden Stai.
