I had some response from my comment about hauling deer back on the front fenders of the family jittney during the hunting seasons year’s ago. What I forgot to mention was when an exceptional buck deer was harvested the hunter or hunters enjoyed showing off their kill by parading the deer around town on the front fender… While he never used that method of hauling deer, my dad said his concern was the venison had to absorb heat from the vehicle which he felt was not good for the meat. . . Anglers are still enjoying fall fishing and I counted 10 or eleven rigs in the Buffalo Lake parking lot on one of the warm days last week, and on Saturday morning a lone angler was casting near the swimming beach off Hwy. 55… Roland Hegle and his buddy fished Ramsey lake one day last week and found crappies in their winter habitat, in other words in the deeper water. It has been an outstanding fall, especially with the warm weather we’ve enjoyed the first half of November. I can’t remember a November that gave us so many sunny days and above average temps. November is normally a month of cloudy weather with little sunshine, but I liked the change this year! It probably has to do with the climate change the world seems to be going through. We’ll probably have to pay for it in December, but the winter anglers and other sports addicts need the cold weather to make ice for the annual fishing derby February and snow for the snowmobile population. They have the option of riding here if there is snow or going north or west if they have to.

There was a larger than normal group of coffee drinkers Monday at Cenex, roughly eight, but I couldn’t seem to glean any of the comments for publication this week. Some were thinking about heading south after Thanksgiving or Christmas for a winter break while the rest of us may have envied them, but will stick it out here!
