After falling to Buffalo 136.325 to 119.625 on Tuesday, Dec. 12, the Irish gymnastics team rebounded with a narrow victory over Annandale at home, Monday, Dec. 18. The final score was 128.4 to 123.45.
Highlights of Tuesday’s away meet included a “great” floor routine by Addison Kramer, Abby Torblaa’s bar routine which showed “good flow” and a strong showing by Aurora Zuelke on the beam, Coach Kaitlyn Helmbrecht said.
Vault: Claire Lee scored an 8.375; Lily O’Donnell and Abby Torblaa scored 8.275; Cloie Peterson scored an 8.05 and Jacqueline Pribyl scored a 7.975.
Bars: Addison Kramer scored 7.55; O’Donnell scored 7.425; Pribyl scored a 7.2; Joanna Hall scored a 7.05 and Claire Lee scored a 6.75.
Beam: Kramer scored an 8.2; O’Donnell scored a 6.7; Pribyl scored a 6.35; Torblaa scored a 6.2 and Ashley Gaffaney scored a 6.175.
Floor: Kramer scored an 8.2; Pribyl scored a 7.325; O’Donnell scored a 7.3; Torblaa scored a 7.15 and Lee scored a 6.925.
Coach Helmbrecht called Monday’s meet against the Cardinals a fun outing with great energy. Joanna Hall landed her first solo vault of the season and coaches are looking forward to many great vaults to come. O’Donnell had a “great” all-around performance, especially on the bar, Peterson performed a stuck and entertaining beam routine and Kelsie Jude’s floor routine was well executed, Helmbrecht said. “Lots of great things are happening. We are excited to see where this season takes us.”
Vault: Lee tied for second with an 8.55; Kramer and Gaffaney tied for fourth with an 8.5 and O’Donnell and Torblaa both scored an 8.425.
