The Irish girls basketball team played Legacy Christian to the wire, Tuesday, Dec. 12 at home, but fell just short for a 47-41 non-conference loss. Three days later, the Irish fell 57-16 to the veteran Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City.

Despite a good job neutralizing Legacy Christian’s 6-foot, 3-inch post the Irish were down 17-23 at halftime. A slow start to the second half left the Irish down by as many as 18, but they battled back to within four points with under three minutes to play thanks to full court pressure and knocking down some clutch baskets.

“It was great to see the resilience of the girls; to rally and come back from 18 points down was a great lift for their confidence,” Coach Adam Ronnenberg said.

The Falcons pressure defense stifled Maple Lake’s productivity, Friday, Dec. 15 at ACGC and the Irish struggled to find ways to score.

“ACGC is a veteran group who does some great things with their pressure defense,” Ronnenberg said.

The Irish traveled to Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted on Tuesday, Dec. 19. Results were not available at press time.
