Representative Tom Emmer was the victim of what the Wright County Sheriff’s Office believe to be a “swatting” incident after determining a call reporting a homicide/hostage situation at Emmer’s Delano home was unfounded.
According to the sheriff’s office, just after 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, Wright County deputies responded to the residence of U.S. Representative Tom Emmer in the City of Delano after a call was received regarding a possible homicide/hostage situation reportedly occurring at the residence. The residence was checked by Wright County deputies and contact was made with Representative Emmer and his security detail from U.S. Capitol Police. According to the sheriff’s office, the report was quickly determined to be unfounded and believed to be an incident of “swatting.”
This incident along with other similar incidents are under further investigation by the U.S. Capitol Police.
