Gladys Ada Goerke, age 92, of Maple Grove passed away on Friday, December 29, 2023 at The Good Samaritan Society-Howard Lake. She was born in Albion Township, Wright County on June 21, 1931 to Hubert and Elisa Uecker. She was baptized at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Middleville Township. Gladys was instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake. She graduated from Howard Lake High School in 1950. Gladys was united in marriage to Theodore “Ted” Goerke on June 19, 1954, at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake. God blessed their marriage with two children. Gladys was employed at Donaldson’s in Brooklyn Center. She was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Osseo where she was an active member of the LWML. She sang in the choir for 50 years. Gladys loved visiting with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved going to their school events and sporting activities. Gladys loved to bake, her family loved her old- fashioned coffee cake, Christmas cookies and Carmel bars.
Gladys is survived by her son: Randy (Connie) Goerke of Maple Grove; daughter: Connie (Wayne) Koosman of Howard Lake; 5 grandchildren: Jeremy (Maria) Koosman, Derek (Danie) Goerke, Adam (Becky) Koosman, Nicole (Ben) Knick, Heidi (Ryan) Brinkman; 11 great grandchildren: Matthew, Joy, Rohan, Kara, Kenzie, Eva, Sawyer, Everett, Capri, Sullivan and John; Sister Marion Oswald of LaMesa, CA; sisters-in-law: Evelyn Leahy of Buffalo and Ruth (Donald) Woolhouse of Apache Junction, AZ; many other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by her loving husband Theodore “Ted” Goerke, parents Hubert and Elisa Uecker, brothers Vernon (Pearl) Uecker, Marvin (Irma) Uecker, Harold (Lorraine and Dorothy) Uecker, Eldon (Lillian and Elvera) Uecker and by a brother-in-law Jacob Oswald.
Funeral Services for Gladys Goerke will be held on Tuesday, January 9th, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Osseo. Reverend Daniel R. Burns will officiate. Crucifer will be Joy Koosman and Pall by Kara & Kenzie Koosman.
Duet will be by Jane Mol and MaryAnn Geisinger and they will sing “In The Garden”.
Interment Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 9th AT THE CHURCH one hour prior to services.
Honorary Casket Bearers will be Nicole, Everett and Sullivan Knick; Heidi and Capri Brinkman; Maria and John Koosman; Becky Koosman; and Danie and Evalyn Goerke.
Casket Bearers will be Jeremy Koosman, Derek Goerke, Adam Koosman, Ben Knick, Ryan Brinkman, Matthew Koosman, Rohan Goerke and Sawyer Brinkman.
