Irish gymnasts fall just short

The Irish gymnastics team was edged by a tough Melrose 142.1 to 131.575.

“It was a good meet for the girls. Melrose is always tough competition, but the girls did great and kept our team score consistent,” Irish Head Coach Kaitlyn Helmbrecht said.

Vault

Joanna Hall scored a 8.75; Jacqueline Pribyl scored a 8.7; Claire Lee scored a 8.675; Kelsi Jude scored a 8.525 and Ashley Gaffaney scored a 8.5.

Bars

Lily O’Donnell scored a 7.725; Jude scored a 7.7; Abbby Torblaa scored a 7.525; Addison Kramer scored a 7.45 and Pribyl scored a 7.25.

Floor

Jude finished second with a 9.1; Lee was fourth with a 8.675; Kramer scored a 8.475; O’Donnell scored a 8.35 and Pribyl scored a 7.3.

All around

Jude finished fifth with a cumulative score of 33.05. Pribyl racked up 31.55 points.

The Irish traveled to Long Prairie-Grey Eagle High School on Thursday, Jan. 25 for another contest, but results were not available at press time.
