The Junior Irish Gymnastics team held it’s third annual Junior Irish Tumble in the Jungle on Sunday, Jan. 14 at Maple Lake High School. The Junior Irish program operates through Maple Lake Community Education and is part of the Midwest Amateur Gymnastics Association. According to Coach Kaitlyn Helmbrecht, the team competes in six meets between November and February, and there are currently 19 young gymnasts in the program from Annandale and Maple Lake. The team is coached by Kaitlyn Helmbrecht, Gracie Elsenpeter and Shaun Johnson. Sunday’s tournament was the third annual and that’s also as long as the program has been running. Five clubs and 13 teams attended. “Shout out to all the gymnasts’ families for making this meet weekend a success,” Coach Helmbrecht said.
