I hope everyone is enjoying the weather swings which give us lots of warm weather with a sprinkling of cold spells which don’t seem to last more than a day or so. The last one was Wednesday when the prediction was for a near zero morning, and 40-50 degrees for the weekend. I’m not complaining and March could come in like a lamb!
I don’t see much of a chance for late ice this year which normally turns on the bite from the fish. Apparently the ice on local lakes isn’t safe judging from the lack of fish houses on them. I talked with my brother Charles who had been fishing with our nephew Steve on Rush lake out of Ottertail on Sunday. Steve had Monday off and caught four walleyes, one 19 inches, one 18 and two smaller ones. He stayed the night and was bothered by bullheads at one time so he pulled his rattle wheels out until they left. I hadn’t heard anything locally about good fishing early last week.
