The architecture and people of St. Paul are what appealed to Maple Lake artist, Ernest Pribyl and so that is what he painted.
He documented with sure lines and strokes landmarks like the St. Paul Cathedral, Mears Park and Mickey’s Diner. He painted for his own pleasure and over the years created quite a collection. In 2020 he passed away and his artwork was inherited by his daughter Jessica Elsenpeter.
This spring, Elsenpeter is loaning her father’s work to the Maple Lake Library where his scenic cityscapes and colorful caricatures will be on display from March 4 to May 24th.
Maple Lake native Butch Pribyl painted an image of Mickey’s Diner in St. Paul. It and 13 more of his pieces will be on display at the Maple Lake Library now until the end of May. Photo courtesy of Jessica Elsenpeter
