Warmer weather and mostly sunny skies attracted a larger crowd to the annual Irish Scamper 5K, Saturday, March 16, as part of the Maple Lake St. Patrick’s Day festivities. Although nicer than last year’s race that was wet and snowy, it was still cool and blustery for the 259 runners/walkers who set out from the starting line on Division Street West.
The starting gun was fired at 11 a.m. and the crowd took off sporting bright orange shirts with a brand-new logo, organizer Ben Youngs said. They finished near the American Legion on First Street.
