The Wright County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a string of thefts from vehicles in local church parking lots all occurring on Sunday, April 7.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, at 12:22 p.m. Sunday, April 7, deputies were called to the Quarry Church in Monticello Township for a reported car break-in. Deputies learned through statements from the victim as well as from video from the church that an individual exited a newer silver Nissan Murano and approached the victim’s vehicle. The unidentified suspect then broke the driver side window of the victim’s vehicle. The suspect can be seen leaning inside the vehicle. In this incident the victim reported the damaged window however stated nothing appeared to be missing from the vehicle at the time of the report.
Another victim reported their vehicle broken into and items stolen from the vehicle while at the Quarry Church.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, several other similar incidents were reported on April 7, including numerous thefts from vehicles at Connection Point Church (3477 10th St. NE in Buffalo Township) and at the Buffalo Evangelical Free Church (2051 50th St. NE in Buffalo Township). In total there have been 13 victims identified in these incidents. All the incidents remain under investigation at this time.
