The Dassel-Cokato chargers claimed a three-run win over the Maple Lake Irish at Irish Stadium, Friday, April 12 in the home team’s first outing of the season.

The Chargers started scoring with a single run in the first inning. They tacked on two more in the second before Maple Lake responded.

Nick Jost put the Irish on the board in the bottom of the third. The Chargers had a big fifth inning, pushing seven runners across home plate.

The Irish’s big inning came in the bottom of the sixth when they scored five runs including a homer by Nathan Zander to center field that scored Gabe Jurgens, Andrew Marquette and Joey Gendreau.

It wasn’t enough to catch up to the Chargers 10 run lead, however.

Zander started on the mound for the Irish and pitched four innings. He gave up five hits and nine runs and struck out seven.

On Monday, April 15, the Irish hosted the Holdingford Huskers and fell 1-0 to the Central Minnesota Conference opponent.
