Maple Lake School Board members recognized four students as Students of Excellence at their regular meeting, Monday, April 8.
Abbie Lipinski, Erika Hannon, Ben Kunkel and Kassandra Fynboh were chosen as this year’s representatives for the annual Students of Excellence event that takes place on April 24 at the St. Cloud River’s Edge Convention Center.
This prestigious occasion recognizes outstanding high school seniors from all districts in the region as top performing based on their achievements in academics, leadership, and community service.
The event includes a reception, dinner, entertainment, and the presentation ceremony.
The school board also recognized administrative assistants Amelia, Stacey, Heather, Kelly and Chris in honor of Administrative Professional’s Day on Wednesday, April 24. Their professionalism and positive attitudes were commended, as was their ability to anticipate needs and solve problems before they arise.
The school board also recognized the custodial staff who did a “fantastic job” during spring break waxing the elementary and preparing the high school for prom and graduation.
With staffing shortages continuing in the special education department, the school board recognized the special education staff for their support and intervention for students with significant behavioral needs.
In other news, school board members:
• Accepted donations from: Scott and Stephanie Breimon, $334 for a scholarship and $200 for the Class of 2025; William Blizil, $250 for the Class of 2025 and $250 for post prom; Amerithai Inc (Subway), $300 for concessions; the Maple Lake Elementary PTA, $381 for the sixth grade ski trip; $5,000 from the Maple Lake American Legion for the post prom raffle and $710 from the Maple Lake American Legion for the post prom meat raffle.
• Heard an updated enrollment report. In March, the school district had an enrollment of 781 students and of them 200 are open enrolled from other districts.
