Denise C. Sogard, age 71, of Maple Lake, died Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at the Annandale Care Center.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. The burial with a graveside service will be held at a later date at Calvary Cemetery near Alamo, North Dakota. Memorials are preferred to the Annandale Care Center or St. Croix Hospice.
Denise Collett Sondrol was born on December 16, 1952, in Watford City, North Dakota, to LeRoy and Alpha (Dexter) Sondrol. She grew up in Watford City and following her high school years, moved to Williston. Denise was united in marriage to Dave Johnson. They made their home in Williston, until Dave’s death. On December 16, 1972, she married James P. Sogard on the family farm near Alamo, North Dakota. In 1974, they moved to Minneapolis, where they resided until moving to Maple Lake in 1983. She worked as a compliance officer for Oakley National Bank in Buffalo before joining Security State Bank in Maple Lake as a teller. Denise finished her career as a bookkeeper with Star West Chevrolet in Delano.
Denise was a caring soul who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. In her younger years, she delighted in activities like bowling, pottery, and painting. She had a green thumb and was known for tending to beautiful flowers in the spring, sharing her love for quilting, adorning her space with flamingos, and playing Yahtzee. Her artistic talents extended to calligraphy, highlighting her creativity and attention to detail. Denise had great love for her family and she found immense joy in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating cherished memories that will live on forever.
She is survived by her husband, Jim of Maple Lake; children, Tanya (Ric) Joyce of East Bethel and James “Beau” Sogard of Annandale; grandsons, Ben Sogard, Mike Brant, Cody Brant, and Jay Sogard; great-granddaughters, Aurora, Talulah, and Dahlia Sogard, and Georgia Brant; siblings, Patty (Arden) Sanford, Monty Sondrol, and James Sondrol; and other family members and friends. Denise was preceded in death by her parents, LeRoy Sondrol and Alpha Wallace; first husband, Dave Johnson; and brother, Larry Sondrol.
