Abatement still in progress

The abatement of hazardous property on City Councilmember John Haack’s residence and business is substantially completed, City Attorney Sam Ketchum reported to the Maple Lake City Council at its regular Tuesday, Aug. 20 meeting.

According to Ketchum, the vast majority of trailers, vehicles, and personal property at 110 Birch Avenue South and 118 1st Street East has been removed and anything remaining will be subject to removal under contracts with Junk Masters.

Councilmember Lori Hausken voiced concerns about several trailers that had reportedly been moved back onto the properties despite being denied a request to do so by the judge. Ketchum said that is a matter best left to the litigator who is handling the case, and he would pass the concern along.
