Maple Lake junior Hayden Dircks led the boys cross country team at Annandale, Tuesday, Sept. 10. Dircks bested his personal 5k record by more than 40 seconds, finishing in 19.01 for 24th overall.
He was followed closely by sophomore Blake Stoeber who likewise ran a personal best 19.02.
“It is fun watching teammates train hard together and then race together, pushing one another toward these personal milestones,” Irish Head Coach J McClelland said.
Other finishers for the boys team was Tristin Stoeber in 44th with a time of 21:03.9; Logan Anglin in 49th with a time of 21:14.5; Elijah Dorse in 56th with a time of 22:15.9; Carter Ertel in 57th with a time of 22:22.9 and Clark Hawkinson in 59th with a time of 23:18.0.
Sal Wirth of Annandale won the boys race in a time of 15:16.6.
On the girls side, freshman Lauren Anglin was fighting a cold but still cracked the top 20 (19th place) in a very competitive field of runners, McClelland said. Anglin’s time was 22:34.6. Finishing in 41st place was Khloe Uecker in a time of 25:29.5; Jenna Kronenberg was 44th in 25:44.6; Peyton Walberg was 47th in 26:42.5; Abby Gindele was 48th in 26:59.1 and Leni Leithner was 50th in 27:45.6.
Hannah Boese of Spectrum won the girls race in a time of 18:39.6.
