Irish show growth in homecoming football loss

Junior Joseph Aasen scored the six-yard touchdown run that put the Irish on the board, Friday night, Oct. 11 during Maple Lake’s homecoming football action.

The Irish faced St. Cloud Cathedral and fell 44-8. Aasen’s touchdown was accompanied by a successful two-point conversion that closed the Crusaders’ lead to 15-8 in the second quarter. The Crusaders followed with four more touchdowns – two in the second quarter and two in the third.

Other Irish highlights included Brock Elston’s 43-yard pass, Aasen’s 88 yards rushing and 43 yards receiving.

The scoreboard may not show it, but the 0-7 Irish are showing growth and improvement each week they are out on the field, Head Coach Mike Rowe said.
