The Maple Lake City Council recently adopted a preliminary budget and levy for 2025 and set a Truth in Taxation Hearing for Dec. 3 at 6 p.m.
The preliminary budget is in the amount of $2,931,092 and the tax levy is in the amount of $1,855,625 which is an increase of 12% over last year.
This is the preliminary budget and levy that will be sent to the County, but it is not necessarily the final numbers. The city council and staff have until Dec. 3 to reduce that amount. At this point, the council can no longer raise the budget or levy, they can only decrease it.
“This is the initial budget, now we’ll take a closer look, a fine-tooth comb and make sure we lower it as much as we can,” Mayor Lynn Kissock said.
