Destin M. Ertel, Montrose

Destin M. Ertel, age 32, of Montrose, died on Friday, November 22, 2024, as a result of an automobile accident in Independence.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Friday, November 29, 2024, at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake. A Committal Service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at St. Timothy Catholic Cemetery, Maple Lake.

Destin Michael Ertel was born on July 29, 1992, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Michael and Jeri Ertel. Destin grew up in Becker and St. Cloud and attended Tech High School in St. Cloud.

Destin’s life was distinguished by dedication and commitment. As a Lead Warehouse Services Coordinator at Black Box Network Services, he had devoted himself to the company since high school, showcasing unwavering loyalty and professionalism. In his free time, Destin enjoyed motocross racing, pushing boundaries and embracing the rush of adrenaline. An avid gamer and technology enthusiast, Destin’s love for all things digital and innovative was evident. His sharp intellect inclined him towards challenging mathematical pursuits, a testament to his inquisitive mind and relentless pursuit of knowledge. Destin’s zest for life extended beyond his work and hobbies. He was a collector of various treasures, highlighting his diverse interests. His greatest pride and joy came from his children.

He is survived by his children, Liam and Mackenzie Ertel; step-daughter Emily Westphal; parents, Michael (Melissa) Ertel of Buffalo and Jeri Ertel of St. Francis; siblings, Toni (Chris) Willems of St. Francis and Anndi Ertel of Buffalo; his girlfriend, Jessica Rinehart; grandfather, Joe Gaspar; aunts and uncles, Debbie (Greg) Helmbrecht, Penny (Dave) Berdan, Jeannie (Joe) Kramer, and Sheri (Pat) Goelz; and many cousins, coworkers, and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Eugene Ertel, Elaine Ertel, Shirley Ertel, Joel Eddy, and Esther Gaspar; aunt, Carla Brown; and uncle, Douglas Forsberg.

Bobby and Billy Helmbrecht, Jeremy Kramer, Derek and Ryan Berdan, Shawn Ennis, Scottie Weidema, and Chad Noaeill will serve as urn bearers. Arrangements entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Maple Lake.
