At their regular meeting, Tuesday, Nov. 19, Wright County Commissioners officially recognized November 20 as National GIS (Geographic Information Systems Technology) Day in Wright County.
This 25-year-old, worldwide tradition seeks to promote GIS awareness, education and technical training to use this rapidly developing technology to its full potential.
By celebrating National GIS Day, Wright County recognizes that an understanding of geography and of geospatial technology provides critical information to stakeholders and helps community leaders and government officials make data driven decisions and is crucial to operating infrastructure, sustaining natural resources and stimulating economic growth.
