Although there isn’t much snow, and the holidays are over there’s still reason to get excited about winter.
Wright County Parks and Recreation has several adventures and classes planned at local parks now through February for folks wishing to experience the thrill of winter exploration and staff kicked off the fun on Saturday, Jan. 4, with an open house at Ney Park just north of Maple Lake.
The free family-friendly event featured winter craft activities for children, a winter bird count presentation, an outdoor scavenger hunt and hike plus an animal fur presentation.
There was hot chocolate, coffee, snacks and giveaways in the Nature Center and a warm fire outside for families to roast smores on or warm up at after completing the scavenger hunt and hike.
Logan and Cole Puncochar braved the cold Saturday, Jan. 4 to roast smores at an open house event at Ney Park. Families also enjoyed an outdoor hike and scavenger hunt, plus indoor crafts and presentations to celebrate winter.
