The Maple Lake School Board welcomed two new members at the first meeting of the new year, Monday, Jan. 13th then addressed some routine housekeeping items before moving on to new business. Jennifer Rasset and Scott Mavencamp are the new faces on the board. They were elected in the November general election along with incumbents Kaitlyn Helmbrecht and Joseph Paumen. The new board’s first order of business was to elect a chairperson to lead the meetings. Helmbrecht was chosen to serve as chair for the second year in a row. Liz Lind was selected vicechair, Branson Thomas was made clerk and Natalie Anderson was elected treasurer. The board’s new year chores included choosing committee assignments, selecting the Maple Lake Messenger as the district’s official newspaper where minutes are published after every meeting and designating Star Bank as the district’s official depository.
