The Annandale-Maple Lake girls wrestling team found out they are state tournament material after some recent competitions.
Maple Lake sophomore, Abby Gindele, punched her ticket to the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) sponsored State Tournament with a fall in the section finals match. She’ll represent ANML on March 1 at the Xcel Energy Center.
Meanwhile, Maple Lake eighth graders Ava Gindele and Peyton Walberg qualified for the Minnesota Ninth Grade and Under Wrestling League (MNGWL) State Tournament in January at the MNGWL Region 3 and 4 qualifier by placing first in their weight classes. The two competed at State Feb. 1 at Champlain Park High School where they both placed in the top three. Ava Gindele was second at 88 pounds and Walberg was third at 118 pounds.
