The Wright County Extension Master Gardeners are excited to offer their annual Spring Days event. On March 22, gardening enthusiasts from across the state will gather at Maple Lake High School in Maple Lake, to learn from experts about a wide variety of gardening topics. The keynote speaker this year is Dr. Joe Storlien. Storlien is an avid gardener and a soil scientist by training. He received his Ph.D. in Soil Science from Texas A&M University and is an Associate Professor of Environmental Studies at the College of St. Benedict and St. John’s University. Dr. Storlien loves chatting about gardening, providing service as a Stearns County Extension Master Gardener, and always looks forward to being outside and getting dirty.
Dr. Storlien will provide insight into natural garden design in his keynote session including ecological planting design, management, and will highlight several plants that are well-adapted to Minnesota landscapes and are often overlooked and underutilized in the home garden.
