Although only a toddler at two-years old, the Bolts cheer team, made up of athletes from Maple Lake, Dassel-Cokato and Annandale have qualified for the most prestigious of events – the national cheerleading championships.
The squad won the bid by finishing first at a regional qualifier in early November and will travel to Orlando, Florida March 7 and 8, where they will meet some of the best cheer squads in the country at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
Going into the qualifier, the girls knew they had a good shot at advancing, but they never expected to win it all, D-C senior Layna Ernst said.
“We’re very pumped and excited for our week in Florida,” Maple Lake sophomore Olivia Mueller said.
