Irish gymnastics win two

The Irish gymnastics team used three competitions last week to add some new skills and prepare for the fast-approaching conference and section tournaments.

On Tuesday, Jan. 28, the Irish hosted Litchfield and Long Prairie Grey Eagle and came away with two wins for their efforts.

The Irish defeated Litchfield 123.925 to 120.45 and LP-GE 123.925 to 109.725 in their home gymnasium.

The Irish got off to a strong start on vault with Jacqueline Pribyl’s first-place score of 8.725. Lily O’Donnell was third with an 8.6; Aurora Zuelke was sixth with a 8.35; Ashley Gaffaney was seventh with an 8.35 and Avery Como was tenth with a 7.85.

The Maple Lake team took the top three spots in the next event, bars, starting with O’Donnell’s first place performance with a 7.775. Pribyl was second with a score of 7.475 and Gaffaney was third with a 7. Como and Zuelke rounded out the scoring with their 6.8 and 5.475, respectively.
