It’s that time of year again when Maple Lake Elementary students and staff celebrates, I Love to Read Month with activities to promote reading. This year’s theme is “Reading is Snow Much Fun” and kicked off on Tuesday, Feb. 4 with MLE’s annual Rise and Read event.
More than 300 parents and students got up early for donuts and a bit of reading fun before school started on Feb. 4th. This is always a great event, Media Specialist Sarah Thomas said. Families arrived at the elementary school at 7:30 a.m., received their complimentary donut and sat down wherever they could find a spot in the hallways to enjoy a good book together until school started a little after 8 a.m.
