The Maple Lake High School softball team struggled to get anything going at two games last week, one at home.
Fielding miscues and problems at the plate cost the Irish a 10-0 loss to Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted on Tuesday, April 15 and a 12-0 loss to Kimball on Thursday, April 17.
The Irish faced the Lakers Tuesday at HL-W-W High School. After a scoreless first inning, the Lakers put up three runs in the bottom of the third, but it was their six-run, fourth inning that clinched the win for the Howard Lake team.
Taylor Walhowe led the Irish with one hit at one at bat. Nora Goelz took the loss in the circle. She went four innings, gave up 10 runs (zero earned) on seven hits, struck out three and walked one.
