Becky James was the runaway winner of the 18th annual photo contest. James received five first place votes from the six judges. James calls her photo “Calm before the storm”, taking the photo along the banks of Middle Maple Lake.
James joined 17 other winners whose photos have been published on the front cover of our Maple Lake Area Community Guide since 2004. The win earned her bragging rights and $100 in business bucks.
The judges had plenty of quality images to choose from. Runner up was Sandy Larson. Larson submitted some great images which included “The Great Blue Heron”, “Morning Monarch”, and “Down on the Dock”. Kenlyn Marsicek made the top three, two years in a row, with “The Pollenator” and Krista Tarbox won Honorable Mention with her picture titled “Swallowtail meets Lucy”. These photos can be found throughout this year’s Community Guide.
There were quite a few awesome pictures to choose from. Thank you to everyone who submitted photos. Keep snapping pictures of this beautiful community…who knows, maybe your image will be on the front of our 19th Annual Area Community Guide!
Look for our pocket-sized resource to your community in our upcoming edition of the Lake County Lure which is distributed to over 8,000 area residents around the last Saturday of July. If you’re a new resident to the area, please let the City of Maple Lake know as these are also in the city’s welcome packets.
