The slapstick, trash-talking humor in The Taming of the Shrew had the audience roaring at the FungusAmongus Players’ presentation of the William Shakespeare comedy at the Bethlehem United Church of Christ in Maple Lake, Thursday, July 22. The scene above depicts the rocky, first meeting of the rich Katerina (also known as “the shrew”) and Petruchio who claims he can tame her for he has “come to wive it wealthily in Padua.” The Dassel-Cokato theatre group put on the outdoor show thanks to the BUCC, the Annandale United Methodist Church and the Buffalo Presbyterian Church. BUCC pastor Mark Well Nagel said the play was another way for the church to serve the broader community. Petruchio was played by Jesse Bunker and Katerina by Naomi Coyle.
