What prompted this story was an email from Betty Dircks from Wright County Historical Society. She sent me a note saying WallisAnn Salmon Jondal planned to visit Maple Lake and wanted information on the CCC camp located here in 1940. The Maple Lake Centennial book on page 124 has a nice description of Maple Lake’s Civilian Conservation Corp Camp #3710. However, since the book was written, even more information has come to light which I planned to share with WallisAnn and our Messenger readers. Also WallisAnn Jondal contributed to this story about another part of life at the camp which was not covered in our Centennial book or the newspaper.
