Bernice M. Stumpf, age 88, of Maple Lake, died Monday, April 23, 2001, at the Buffalo Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 27, 2001, at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church, Maple Lake, with the Rev. RobertWiley officiating. Pallbearers will be John Anderson, Francis Borell, Doug & Eugene Demarais, Roger Wolfsteller and Richard Kuechle. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. and after 8:00 a.m. on Friday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake.
Bernice Mary Stumpf was born on January 25, 1913, in Waverly to the late Eli and Barbara (Zumbusch) Demarais. She married Donald J. Stumpf on October 10, 1933, in Maple Lake. He preceded her in death on April 1, 1992. She lived in the Maple Lake area most of her life. She was a homemaker, member of St. Timothy’s Catholic Church, Maple Lake, and the Council of Catholic Women. She was a kind, loving, nurturing lady who loved her family, quilting, gardening, playing cards, and cooking.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Holmberg and husband, Dave of Maple Lake, two daughters in law, Mary Stumpf and Darlene Stumpf-Hartneck of Annandale, half sister, Margaret Demarais of Waverly, two brothers in law, Harold Stumpf of Waverly, Ray Wolfsteller of Orrock, three sisters in law, Elaine Demarais of Maple Lake, Pauline (Tootie) Stumpf of Cyrus, Leah Stumpf of Maple Lake, 13 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons, Clay and Jack, brother, Vince Demarais, half brother, Raymond Demarais, step brother, Frank Fobbe, half sister, Loretta Wolfsteller, step sister, Evelyn Borell, great grandson, Christopher Mavencamp.
