Sun Patio wins first three games

After a rain-out on May 23, Sun Patio opened the women’s softball season facing South Haven Liquor on May 30. Sun Patio started quickly, scoring four runs in the top of the first, but South Haven responded with two of their own in the bottom of the inning.

The second inning saw Sun Patio explode for 10 runs while their defense held South Haven scoreless in the inning. Sun Patio padded their lead, scoring one in the third, one in the fourth and six in the fifth inning. South Haven was held scoreless until the fifth, when they pushed across two runs, but their comeback fell short as Sun Patio took the game by a score of: Sun Patio-22, South Haven Liquor 4.

Sun Patio faced Fobbe Farms on June 4 in a 7:45 p.m. contest in their second game of the season. Sun Patio’s bats were lively as they scored seven runs in the first inning, one in the second, five in the third inning, two in the fourth and closed out with three in the fifth inning. The defense was strong for Sun Patio as well, holding Fobbe Farms to a single run for the game. Final score: Sun Patio 18, Fobbe Farms 1.

June 6 saw Sun Patio face Wells Fargo Bank at the Community Park. The defense of Sun Patio played well again, holding Wells Fargo to a single run in the game. Offensively, Sun Patio scored eight in the first inning, 11 in the second and two in the third inning, to end the game early by a final score of: Sun Patio 21; Wells Fargo Bank 1.

Sun Patio faces Madigan’s in their next game at 6:30 p.m. on June 13 at Bolduan Park.
