The Maple Lake Bakery will open its doors for the last time, Saturday, April 29, as owner Rudy Wasserman prepares to retire.
Wasserman, who will turn 65 in July, said he knows it’s time to quit and pursue other interests.
“I’ve heard a lot of people say they hate to see it go, but it’s just kind of a matter of knowing when to quit. It’s long hours,” he said.
Wasserman has tried to sell the business, but so far has had no luck. While his last day open will be on Saturday, April 29, from 6 a.m. until noon, regular bakery hours, he plans on keeping the building on the market for some time yet.
