Preserving Maple Lake’s History

by Patricia Hamilton:

It was amazing to meet Sue Sylvester and find a person who is dedicated to keeping the history alive in Maple Lake and surrounding townships. She has created a digital archive containing photos, families, stories, and even yearbooks from the Maple Lake School. The Maple Lake Library is located at 28 Birch Ave., Suite No. 1, (320) 963-2009 and is where you can honor your family by storing data and accessing data. I met Sue a week ago at the library and later, brought her the first copy of the Maple Lake Messenger, Vol. 1, No. 1, Thursday, November 28, 1895–(published by my grandfather, Frank Thomas Hamilton born 1864). It will be framed and hung in the Maple Lake Library along with old photos that were scanned for the archives. Our ancestors would want their photos and stories preserved.
